1、 What is the function and working principle of the gate valve


1. The gate valve is an open close type gate. The direction of motion of the gate valve is perpendicular to the direction of the fluid. The gate valve can only be fully opened and fully closed, and cannot be adjusted or throttled.


2. The gate has two sealing surfaces. The two sealing surfaces of the commonly used gate valve form a wedge shape, and the wedge angle varies with the valve parameters. Wedge gate valves can be made into a single gate, called a rigid gate, or into a gate that produces slight deformation, called an elastic gate.


3. Gate valves can be divided into wedge and parallel types according to their different gate structures. Wedge gates have three structures: single gate, double gate, and elastic gate. According to its structural form, it can be divided into flat gate valves and knife gate valves.


4. The working principle of a manual gate valve is to open and close the valve plate connected to the valve stem by rotating the handwheel to raise and lower the thread between the handwheel and the valve stem.

1. The flow resistance is small, as the medium channel inside the valve body is longitudinal and does not change its direction of motion when the medium flows through the valve, the flow resistance is small.


2. Small opening and closing torque, effortless opening and closing. Due to the opening and closing of the gate valve, the direction of movement of the gate valve is perpendicular to the direction of medium movement, and compared to the globe valve, the opening and closing of the gate valve is labor-saving.

3. The medium can flow from either side of the gate valve in any direction without restriction, disturbance, or pressure reduction. More suitable for pipelines where the direction of medium movement may change.

4. The structural length is short, as the gate valve is vertically placed inside the valve body and the globe valve disc is horizontally placed inside the valve body, the structural length is shorter than that of the globe valve.

5. Good sealing performance, with less erosion of the sealing surface when fully open.

6. When the valve is fully open, the erosion of the sealing surface by the working medium is smaller than that of the globe valve.

7. The design is simple, the forging process is good, and it is widely used.
